- Heading over to my uncle's for power and internet, so no need to commute in on what probably would be really crowded buses, since the North Jersey Coast Line trains weren't running.
- Catching up with him even though I lost him a few times while following him to his place.
- Finding a store open where I could get a Whole30 compliant dinner.
- Dan coming all the way down to my parents' to bring me back to Hoboken.
- Having some time (and energy) to tend to the plants, worms, clean out the fridge.
- Remembering to get Dan to sign a bunch of things.

- No trees falling on our house or visibly downing power lines in our area.
- Finishing most of the remaining thank you cards!
- Reading The Corrections during the day to keep myself occupied.
- A neighbor lending us a generator to power pumping water out of the flooded basement (and that I could use to charge my phone).
- My aunt hauling out the gas burner back outside to make dinner and scrambled eggs for me, to stay Whole30 compliant.
- Going to bed early and sleeping pretty well.
8/27/11
- Waking up on my own not too long after the early time (7am) that my mom wanted me to wake up to help out with preparing the house for the hurricane.
- Scrambled eggs with perfectly ripe avocado (nurtured in Hoboken, brought back to my parents') for breakfast.
- Said preparation of house only taking a couple hours in the morning, and not too much hard labor or anything.
- Not being too difficult to have a Whole30 compliant lunch, with roasted chicken wings and Chinese okra that was fortunately cooked without sugar or soy sauce.
- Getting a ton of computer stuff done during the afternoon: researching and buying things, going through other sets of wedding photos, writing vendor reviews.
- Remembering to catch the return of Doctor Who!

- Getting to the office in plenty of time for breakfast with generous amount of avocado.
- Meeting the afternoon all got canceled.
- Accomplishing the task of going through the feature prio inbox to make sure I read everything in there even though I hadn't had time for it in the morning.
- Cobbling together a Whole30 compliant dinner from CSA stuff I needed to use up (tomatoes that had unfortunate holes in them).
- Getting a ride to my parents' on their way back from Flushing.
- Fitting the dirty clothes I'd brought back into one load of laundry.

- KC coming over to say she really loves my style and wardrobe. Really nice and flattering compliment to receive!
- Grabbing some food in Chelsea Market and catching up with AJ a bit.
- Getting adopted by a group of 3 couples to hang out with during the Yay New York party.
- Meeting Meg Keene, founder of A Practical Wedding, in person!
- Showering to wash off dance sweat and makeup.
- Having the leftovers from last night to have for dinner part 2.

- Though I left the office a bit later than originally intended, still had time to pick up a few groceries to make dinner.
- Dan clearing out the freezer of a lot of stuff, making it a lot easier to fit things in.
- Coworker coming to Hoboken to pick up the laboratory glassware from the wedding. Two big boxes fewer in the apartment.
- Making a Whole30 compliant dinner of salsa verde with CSA tomatillos and pork tenderloin, as well as carrot fries.
- Group Skype chat with LW, DC, and EM!
- Finally going through the full set of wedding photos from Kelly and falling in love with so many of them.

- Having time to deposit a check at Provident.
- Getting an omelet with red peppers, onions, and broccoli, and avocado on the side.
- Really excellent sports massage and deep tissue massage with one of the new therapists, JP.
- Picking up extra veggies after doing the late volunteer shift.
- Dinner with EM and BL.

- Not being too late to my doctor's appointment in the morning.
- A meeting ending early so I could participate in a Relay for Life fundraiser.
- Really comfortable weather, even in the city, surprisingly.
- Getting various errands done, applying a coupon at BBB, eyebrow threading, picking up books from the library.
- Dan letting me watch some SyFy TV.
- Going to bed early.

- Dinner of stuff my mom sent me back with: curry squid, saltwater duck, fresh Chinese cucumbers.

- Getting various errands done like laundry and returning an online order to Nordstroms.
- My favorite pork, chive, and shrimp dumplings for dinner.
- Going to the driving range to hit a few golf balls.
- Picking up a couple tops from the J.Crew outlet.
- Watching TV with my mom and sis.

- Packing up and getting out of the apartment just as the car service came.
- Check-in and security lines at the airport going much more quickly than expected.
- Getting some sleep on the plane and having books to keep me company.
- Flight only being a little delayed, unlike the next one from SFO that was much more delayed, so I could still have the evening to unwind.
- My sister picking me up from the airport just before the really heavy rain hit.
- My mom making red duck curry and papaya salad for dinner for me.

- Breakfast of maple bacon, scrambled eggs, crispy hash browns, and blueberries.
- Getting compliments from coworkers on the new-to-me green floral vintage dress I debuted.
- Pulling together my notes on the feature prio process so that they were sufficiently organized.
- Fancy pizza at Thirsty Thursday this week.
- Playing air hockey and other games with my cousins and aunt and uncle.
- Getting back to the corporate apartments in time to watch most of Project Runway while packing.

- Bus to the SF office getting there a bit early, which helped make up for the first shuttle being late for the one I'd originally intended to take.
- SH rescheduling a meeting so I wouldn't have to find a room to dial in from.
- Finding Green Apple Books down the street while waiting for JW and picking up a couple really cheap used books (~$2 each) to help pass the time.
- The wait for the food at Burma Superstar being totally worth it: ginger lemonade, tea leaf salad, creamy coconut curry noodles.
- Catching up with JW about weddings (mine past and hers upcoming) and her work in Kenya this summer.
- The extra fleece I brought being sufficient to not be cold in the evening SF weather.

- Tutorial from AQ on how to use a straightening iron on my hairstyle and get the ends to curl in but also give it some more volume.
- Clearing out a bunch of tickets.
- PH giving me a ride to the local CVS to pick up the meds prescribed by the doctor yesterday.
- Getting more delicious sushi from that same Japanese place as the other day.

- Getting squeezed in to see the doctor at the local Wellness Center.
- Finding the group at lunch despite bicycling back from another building a bit later into the lunch hour.
- Pretty productive afternoon, I've been getting better lately at focusing to power through tasks.
- Getting a group makeup lesson from MT with AQ and CT. So helpful to watch her do eye makeup for someone else.
- Really good steak at dinner.
- Picking up some toiletries and makeup at the local CVS.

- Getting to the Caltrain station just in time before the train came.
- Having some time to get a breakfast bagel sandwich before SP came by with SC to pick up AZ and me.
- Buying a bottle of the amazingly delicious Moscato wine from the first place. Fruity and sweet.
- SP's car re-starting with some encouragement from the tow truck driver.
- Settling into a nice little buzz a little while in to the last winery.
- Finding a Japanese restaurant still open by the time I got back to Mountain View to finally get some buttery smooth sushi.

- Finding good breakfast food items at Starbucks, particularly their protein package of food with a hardboiled egg and firm grapes.
- Getting a great haircut from MT's stylist for only $40.
- Taking the ferry on a beautiful day from SF to Sausalito.
- Really interesting and informative tour of the Heath Ceramics factory. It seems like a thoughtfully well-run business.
- Thick grilled cheese sandwich from Cowgirl Creamery for dinner.
- Enough power left on my phone to call Dan and complain about my public transportation woes.

- Having plenty of time to grab breakfast before getting on the shuttle to SF.
- Finding an empty office whose usual occupant was on paternity leave, to use for a meeting.
- Grabbing a few of the small, warm chocolate chip cookies with crispy edges, soft centers, and sea salt sprinkled on top. Best chocolate chip cookies ever.
- Getting lunch with SK and VF.
- Discussing the myriad of website projects and LC also coming around to the point of view that the revamp projects that always pop up are silly.
- Getting back to Mountain View just in time to grab a little bit of dinner, which included tabbouli made with really fragrant olive oil.

- Getting a boost in confidence for my new job from ND.
- Hanging out with some more people at a pink-themed Thirsty Thursday.
- Getting to Empire Vintage Clothing and having a great time with Tiffany.
- Catching the end of Project Runway by the time I got back.

- Really productive meeting with NA. He's so competent.
- Homemade pasta dishes at lunch.
- Running across some kind of picnic/outdoor festival with food trucks, including freshly popped kettle corn.
- Getting around the technical issues for gChat with video on my laptop by using cell phone on speaker to call Dan but still have video.
- Catching up with my cousin CW.
- Really excellent salad for dinner at Sprout.

- Not sucking at beach volleyball and having quite a good time with coworkers.
- Shuttle bus driver remembering that I'd asked about getting off at the corporate apartments and calling out for me when I couldn't recognize the stop in the dark.

- Having plenty of time in the morning to pack.
- Not being late for my flight even after the car service was 20 minutes late to pick me up.
- Getting some more thank you card writing done on the plane.
- Having brought food (last pizza, plus extra figs) onto the plane.
- Running into a good Samaritan coworker who brought over a flashlight to the dark mailroom where I was supposed to pick up the corporate apartment key.
- Dan staying up a bit to talk quickly before going to bed.

- Dan helping to clean and vacuum the apartment in the morning.
- Making a variety of different kinds of pizza with what I learned in class last week and my new baking stone and pizza peel, using up quite a bit of CSA veggies in the fridge.
- My mom, sister, and Dan liking how the pizzas turned out, particularly the sausage and sautéed vegetable ones.
- Hanging out with my mom and sis, watching TV.
- My sister helping me peel labels and write addresses for the thank you cards.
- Getting the bulk of thank you card writing done.

- Remembering to bring in 3 cake stands to be sold to a coworker, who turned out to be someone I had met previously at a team volunteering event. She'll be using them for her own wedding this fall!
- Clearing out a bunch of small tasks on my backlog.
- Discovering that I am less allergic to nectarines than to peaches, which was great because the nectarines from the fruit share this week were perfectly ripe and tasted amazing, juicy and sweet, and I was quite hungry on my way home.
- Shopping at Chelsea market for fancy ingredients for the pizza, discovering that Manhattan Fruit Exchange carries quite a bit of stuff, and splurging on a bottle of avocado oil from the Filling Station.
- Getting eyebrows threaded.
- Cooling down with a popsicle, which turned out much better than the first batch with blueberries and Greek yogurt.

- Attending a fascinating day-long off-site/on-site meeting with PM and eng teams from Shanghai.
- Fancy going away lunch for SS with the eng team at Junoon.
- Getting two packages of mint slices from SP!
- Tea pot from Heath Ceramics finally getting delivered.
- Dan running out to get me a new jar of honey since he brought our old one to work for making his lunches.
- Making peach & honey popsicles while watching Project Runway.

- Grabbing the fixings for an avocado bagel and getting to the 9am meeting not too late.
- Feeling confident enough to answer questions during the August planning meeting.
- First Thai massage with GS on the 10th floor. Kind of like assisted stretching, but it was nice.
- Rain being light enough that I didn't get soaked on the way back from work.
- The last UPS package of my Nordstrom order making it inside the apartment building.
- Using up the squash and eggplant in the fridge for another round of baked skillet squash with eggs.

- EL saying that I'd asked a good question during commercialization meeting today.
- Mailing out Mama G's gift.
- EM giving me all the fruit from our share this week.
- Getting myself to the gym for an 8 minute long tabata workout (heavy cardio). Felt great and "clean" afterwards.
- Cherry tomatoes flavor explosion in my mouth.
- Tending to my plants and worms.

- Getting in to the office in time to get a breakfast of an avocado bagel.
- Remembering a morning meeting that I'd forgotten about before sitting down for a leisurely breakfast.
- Putting a bandaid over a popped blister on my right foot.
- Finding that peeling the skin on a couple peaches from last week's CSA did reduce my allergic reaction of mouth/throat itchiness.
- Finding out about getting a good rating for last quarter.
- Relatively quiet environment for a team happy hour/dinner.

- Waking up relatively early feeling refreshed, given how late we got back last night and how tired I was after a couple nights of not enough sleep in a row.
- An APWer's husband coming by to pick up a ton of the wedding stuff I wanted to give away. Yay having less of that stuff in the apartment now!
- Dan vacuuming the apartment.
- Bar Keeper's Friend really magically helping clean off a ton of stuck-on stains on our All-Clad frying pan, after Coke and baking sode and vinegar were unsuccessful.
- Slow cooked ribs (BBQ sauce made with root beer!) coming out quite well.
- Churning out a few thank you cards.
