- Getting an economy plus seat for the flight to Chicago due to a family wanting to sit together.
- Surprisingly wide spread of movies on United’s wifi, had a fun time watching trailers.
- Cubano sandwich from Rick Bayless place being actually really good, and only $6.
- Plenty of outlets at O’Hare, enough to fully charge my phone and laptop both during the layover.
- Middle seat in my row being empty for the 8 hour Chicago-Brussels flight.
- Watching the Lego movie, American Hustle, and Across the Universe (for the music).

- Getting a plug adapter kit from IT.
- Remembering to print out directions for my trip while still at the office.
- Having for dinner what I had brought for lunch.
- Remembering to transfer the frozen blanched vegetables to freezer bags.
- Finding the sunflower quilt and travel blanket after being unsuccessful when I went looking last week.

- Frying up some bacon and eggs to go with toast for a full breakfast.
- Catching up with my BC friends over a Google Hangout for the first time in a couple months.
- Much larger harvest that I'd expected of the Swiss chard I'd been growing, and I even left some of the smaller stalks on there still to see how long they'd last on their own.
- Getting a couple laundry loads done.
- Sous vide pork chops turning out splendidly, even Dan liked them.
- Thinking of frying up the CSA turnips in the leftover butter from browning the pork chops.

- Buying the latest Tana French mystery novel, The Secret Place.
- Spending all afternoon on the couch reading.

- Getting a burrito from Santeria as I was suddenly very hungry.
- Happy hour at secret Bailey's and getting to know RC better.
- Staying up late reading Broken Harbor, just because.

- Getting a ride to the office in the morning from my mom/sister, before they headed off to the airport.
- Not too busy a day to get back into the swing of things.
- Reading a graphic novel, American Born Chinese, during my hair appointment.

- Fixing myself a last panzanella salad for dinner.
- Reading Alif the Unseen and getting really caught up in it.

- Excellent breakfast sandwich from the food truck Fried Egg I'm in Love, with Havarti, avocado, a fried egg, and sriracha.
- Picking up bread from Grand Central in the car, so I wouldn't have to bike back up the hill afterwards.
- Having time to return a bunch of books to the library and pick up fresh mozzarella for panzanella salads for dinner.
- Seeing lots of salmon at the fish hatchery.
- Amazing view from the Crown Point Vista House, even with the clouds and rain.
- Teaching my sister how to play Dominion.

- Cobbling together a decent hot breakfast for my mom and sister.
- Still a good number of roses in bloom at the rose garden.
- Later start to the day working out with the Japanese tea garden not opening until noon anyway.
- Playing chess against my sister with a random giant set of chess at a public square area downtown.
- Playing arcade games with my sister at Ground Kontrol.
- Going to the gym with my sister.

- "Bowl of the Gods" for breakfast at Kure, very delicious and healthy.
- Taking a short nap in the afternoon.
- Dan doing all the dishes and vacuuming and setting up the air mattress.

- One last roast duck available at Fubonn.
- Making it to the drive-in in plenty of time.

- Getting up in time in the morning to get a lifting session in.
- Successfully getting the salmon CSA home and fitting 2 shares into our freezer.
- Great view from Pittock Mansion.
- Making it to all the downtown locations on our list in time before they closed.
- Discovering a really nice new food truck pod on Division.
- Getting ice cream at Salt & Straw.

- Sleeping in in the morning and catching up on sleep.
- Discovering a nearby vintage/thrifty store for 12+ sizes and finding a cute and comfortable sweater dress, brand new, for $19.
- Taking with RS so much that my throat kept getting sore.
- A late lunch at Lardo with a really good chicken liver and fried chicken skin sandwich.
- Dan coming to pick us up from Division.
- Having a good time listening to the bluegrass band at Alberta St. Pub, not too loud or crowded.

- Only a very light drizzle on my bike ride in in the morning, didn't even really get wet.
- Brown huaraches not rubbing against the back of my feet, didn't need a band-aid at all. Might actually be broken in?
- Having a fun time volunteering at the SE Portland Tool Library, mainly due to C and J's long-married-couple banter.
- Fitting everything I picked up at Fred Meyer into just the front basket on my bike.
- Roasted eggplant soup being easy to make, quite tasty, and finishing up just as we needed to head out to pick up RS.
- Picking up RS from the airport!

- Fish sauce wings and the mussels at Luc Lac being really good, much better than Pok Pok.
- Meeting CB's friend, BV and having a good time getting to know her.
- Not failing at last week's weights for squat and deadlift, even though I hadn't gone for a week.
- Bathroom being sparkling clean after a cleaning service I booked from a LivingSocial coupon.
- Cooking up some tater tots to supplement a salad for dinner.
- Sitting and organizing the various segments to the South Africa trip!
9/16/14
- Getting lunch from Sonny Bowl for the first time and finding the chickpeas and kale salad with peanut sauce being quite delicious and filling.
- Going out for coffee and having a nice long chat with DC.
- Getting a bunch of errands done, including getting my eyebrows done and returning items to Nordstrom and J.Crew.
- Remembering to check up on my plants and finding that they were actually doing ok, despite not being watered for a couple days.
- Dan's plan of getting takeout meatballs to supplement dinner working out quite well.
- The return of The Mindy Project and the last 5 minutes of that episode being delightful (and objectifying, ok, but also delightful).
9/15/14
- Waking up refreshed at 8.
- Getting a load of laundry in.
- Not feeling too hungry in the afternoon despite skipping lunch.
- Dan having spaghetti and meatballs all ready for dinner for when we got home.
- JD and K being back at trivia, as well as DC and a bunch of others.
- Winning at bar trivia finally!!!! First time in months.

- KL having an extra free ticket for us.
- Fabulous fabulous time at the Washington State Fair: got a deep-fried oreo, seeing all the adorable rabbits and guinea pigs and piglets, riding a wooden roller coaster, elephant ears, chocolate chip cookies...good times.
- Mutton bustin' (kids trying to stay on sheep) being just as delightful as I thought it'd be.
- Dan finding the deep-fried butter stand and observing a group of teenagers try it out.
- Getting on a shuttle that was just about to leave as we left the fairgrounds.

- Getting home canned goods from TF's wife for the veggies yesterday: peach butter and pickled strawberries!
- Having lunch with ND, who was in town for XOXO.
- Noticing a LivingSocial deal for visiting Pittock Mansion, which I was probably going to go with visitors next weekend anyway.
- Engaging and interesting discussion with other Ruby devs and not acrimonious at all.
- Staving off my hunger with the leftover green veggies.
- Dan making me spaghetti and meatballs for dinner.

- Indulging in a chocolate chip cookie and a cinnamon sugar cookie from the afternoon Q&A with our head legal person.
- Pairing with KM to figure out how to set up an email template for her email with an attachment.
- Running into TF as I was leaving to hear that someone else had taken his box, so gave him the extra box of veggies I was taking home.
- Going for the biggest bottle of fancy olive oil to have for salads.
- Stopping at the library to pick up one book and finding 4 others that I'd just requested on Tuesday already being there as well, nice.
- First harvest of some of the Swiss chard I planted.

- Getting to the gym for a lifting workout in the morning.
- Running errands on the way home from the gym.
- Going out in the afternoon for a slice of pie from Lauretta Jean's.
- Successfully helping KM get set up to send herself emails locally.
- Fixing both of the encoding tickets on my plate, both of which were one-line changes.
- Using scallions instead of basil for my panzanella salad for dinner tonight, which worked out quite well.

- Dragging myself out of bed before the potential house cleaner came by.
- Finding an excerpt from the upcoming sequel to Red Rising.
- The newly hemmed fire red jeans stretching out a bit throughout the day to be pretty comfortable.
- Fixing a second bug before I left the office for the day.
- Making up a big salad with the remainders from Sunday, a couple of the CSA tomatoes, the remainder of the lettuce, and some bread cubes.
- Going to bed early to make up for being up so late the night before.

- #14 bus coming by just as I crossed the street to the stop, after dropping off the laptop charger cable at the UPS Store.
- Getting some practical and useful career advice from BR.
- Making it to Penzey's before they closed, to pick up some spices.
- Enough sausage & peppers left for me to heat it up quickly and bring with some bread to the bar for dinner.
- Trivia wrapping up pretty quickly, got home before 10.
- Getting really into Red Rising--it's Ender's Game + Hunger Games + Game of Thrones!

- Cantaloupe agua fresca being quite refreshing, I prefer it to eating cantaloupe straight.
- The folks at the Tool Library being very patient in showing me how to work on repairing various tools.
- Finally getting caught up on our finances for the last couple months.
- Dan making lentils for dinner.
- Started writing a Portland visitor guide.
- Broke out the sewing machine to make a couple quick fixes and start whittling down the pile of jeans to be hemmed.

- Figuring out on my own why my local server was sending emails just to one email address.
- Getting really good news right before heading out for the day!
- Dan bringing lime chips to the concert.
- Getting a perfect spot at the venue, next to a diagonal aisle so wouldn't be blocked by people in front, near the beginning of the hill so wouldn't have to stand up to see either.
- Really fun Avett Brothers concert!

- Learning a new game at board game night, Acquire, and enjoying it even though you don't really know who's winning until the reckoning is done at the end.
- Supplementing dinner with sliced tomatoes on toast, sprinkled with a bit of sea salt, and one of the cantaloupes from the CSA this week.

- Shredded cucumber with Nong's Khao Man Gai sauce and sesame oil for dinner, that was an inspired idea.
- Pulling out "Elrond" to sweep the Middle Earth category.
