8/13/16

1. Fitting everything in my luggage without too much difficulty.
2. Getting one last fresh coconut.
3. Finding the artist along Ipanema beach with the painting of Cristo that I'd seen briefly the other day.
4. Great barbecue meats lunch.
5. Going to the men's trampoline event.
6. Picking up the rest of the items on my souvenirs/gifts list at the airport.

A year ago today.

8/12/16

1. Breaking out my screaming eagle t-shirt for the evening of USA cheering.
2. Walking around the botanic gardens with lots of interesting plants and trees.
3. Getting lunch at the garden cafe, with delicious cheeses.
4. Belting out "I'm Proud to be an American" at the tops of our lungs while walking through the Olympic park.
5. Dancing like maniacs at the "club" inside the park.
6. Getting on TV again at midnight beach volleyball!

8/11/16

1. Successfully making our way over to the Equestrian Center, taking the commuter rail.
2. Finding the McDonald's in the Central train station and treating myself to chicken nuggets for lunch.
3. Skipping handball and taking a nap at the house instead.
4. Eventually succeeding at finding the right venue for badminton.
5. A Brazilian family taking pity on me and helping me communicate to the vendor that she hadn't actually sold me water yet.
6. Two of the badminton matches featuring players from the U.S.

8/10/16

1. EN and I dragging ourselves over to the rowing arena despite the late night.
2. Going right back to sleep after getting home.
3. Napping/lounging for the rest of the day.
4. Getting it together enough to go out to the USA House again to buy some pins and t-shirts.
5. Stopping at a grocery store on the way back.
6. Watching plenty of Olympics events on Brazilian TV.

1. Taking the bus shuttle up to see Christ the Redeemer with ML, instead of hiking.
2. Group consensus to skip the basketball match.
3. Making myself food at the apartment instead of going out to eat again.
4. Wearing my rose gold leather feather cuff from Argentina with my purple Modcloth romper for going out.
5. Local women being really welcoming and coming by to give us dance lessons.
6. Having such a fun time dancing, with the tables as barriers protecting against being too crowded.

8/8/16

1. Having my new print scarf to protect against the sun.
2. Astoundingly different environment at the tennis matches, with a fight breaking out in the stands and lots of disruptions from the crowds.
3. Collecting more of the beer cups from those left behind by others in the stands.
4. Amazing atmosphere and crowd at late night beach volleyball, with music and dancing!
5. People getting screenshots/videos of us being on TV!
6. Didn't take too long to just walk back to the apartment along the beach.

1. Finding and shopping at USA House.
2. Succeeding at getting in to using a restaurant's bathrooms.
3. Meeting VD and selling our extra gymnastics ticket to him.
4. Watching the U.S. women's gymnastics team in the qualifying round!
5. Meeting David Plummer's family while waiting in line for the megastore inside the Olympic park.
6. Getting to the grocery store with EN before it closed and buying vegetables.
